Detection in color--rather than the universal green produced by standard night-vision systems--increases the soldier's ability to find the enemy and helps reduce the probability of fratricide, said Jonathan Walkenstein, of CANVS Corp. The Coral Gables, Fla.-based company developed full-color night-vision goggles for the Special Operations Command. The goggles cost about $30,000 apiece. Users can see objects up to 400 meters away.
