Night blindness is warning signal.

Some people have extraordinary difficulty adjusting to low light levels, and, in some cases, can not do so at all. Amalia Miranda, an ophthalmologist at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, notes that limited vision at night not only may be distressing, it can be dangerous. People suffering from night blindness should never drive a vehicle after dark."

In a very few cases, night blindness is idiopathic, meaning it is a disease that develops without an apparent known cause.
