The Journal of Management Studies has a long and illustrious history. It has published
cutting edge management scholarship for well over a half century. Many breakthroughs
in the field of management studies were published in its pages, and it continues to be
viewed as a leading outlet for management scholarship, especially scholarship that chal-
lenges established conventions and assumptions about management theory and practice.
One unique feature of JMS is its highly personalized approach to interactions with ed-
itors, authors, reviewers, and readers. At the same time, the ecosystem of journals and
their publishers continues to evolve. JMS has and should continue to evolve as well. It
is with this backdrop that we are pleased to announce several changes to the journal’s
operations and editorial arrangements. We are also launching new channels and content
designed to extend the JMS voice to new issues and audiences.
First, we will be moving to the ScholarOne online platform for all aspects of manu-
script management. This is a decision we did not take lightly, but one that we believe will
better serve our author, reviewer, editor, and reader stakeholders. We do want to rein-
force that even with this move toward modernization and automation, we intend to pre-
serve the highly personalized, responsive, and individualized approach we have brought
to our constituents throughout our history. Bottom line: you will not have to worry that
your paper will be automatically returned because it is one word over our stated word
limit! The new system will handle new submissions in 2021, including special issue sub-
missions. Previously submitted papers will continue to be handled under the previous
email based system for reasons of consistency and continuity.
Second, we are debuting a comprehensive social media and outreach initiative that will
include a blog, a YouTube Channel, and a more comprehensive and dedicated strategy
toward the major professional organizations and social media platforms with which we
interact. The blog, www.manag ement studi esins ights.com, will feature short reflections
