Bar News is a monthly compilation of news from the. CBA, including sections and committees, administration, and local and specialty bar associations. It also includes notices of activities—past, present, and future—from local and national law-related organizations and groups.

Pitkin County Presidential Visit

CBA President Jessica Brown visited beautiful Pitkin County on September 25. The presidential visit was held outdoors at Pioneer Park in Aspen, where guests were able to practice safe social distancing. CBAs Dan Sweetser, deputy executive director, also attended the presidential visit to discuss future plans for the bar.

CHBA Elects New President

Following a special election, the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association announced that Jonathan Booker will serve as president for the upcoming term. Booker will serve as CHBA president-elect for the remainder of 2020 and will be sworn in as president in January 2021.

CBA YLD Sunset Yoga

The CBA Young Lawyers Division held a sunset yoga event as part of its wellness series. The power vinyasa flow class took place along the shore of Sloan's Lake for a relaxing and peaceful wind-down to the day.

CBA Executive Council Q&A

We asked this year's new Executive Council members a few questions about their background and involvement with the CBA. Up this month is Kevin Cheney, who joins the Council as an at-large member.

Please tell us a little about yourself, personally and professionally. I am the cofounder and managing partner of Cheney Galluzzi & Howard, LLC. We are a small firm that focuses on personal injury, insurance bad faith, and criminal defense litigation. I am active in the CBA and Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, where I serve in various leadership positions. I also am the host of the CBA YLD Podcast, “Getting’ Legal With It.” In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, playing with my giant Newfoundland named Pancake, and discussing politics. In a pre-COVID-19 world, I used to love attending concerts and music festivals, and if we are lucky, I just might get to do that again one day!
