Bar News is a monthly compilation of news from the. CBA, including sections and committees, administration, and local and specialty bar associations. It also includes notices of activities—past, present, and future—from local and national law-related organizations and groups.

YLD Wellness Series

The CBA Young Lawyers Division recently wrapped up the second installment of its popular wellness series. Part 2 was challenging and provided a wide range of options to accommodate different schedules and interests, including a weekday virtual class, a weeknight virtual class, and a weekend outdoor hike. So-called "Wellness Warriors" with high attendance earned the chance to win gift cards to REI, Block 21, and Core Power Yoga. The lucky winners were Desmond Brazil, Morgan Cali, and Karen Hen.

Southwest Colorado Bar Association Announces New Leadership

The Southwest Colorado Bar Association, covering Durango, Silverton, Bayfield, Pagosa Springs, and surrounding areas (including the 6th Judicial District), welcomes its 2020-21 officers. Rachel Brock assumes the role of president. She is joined by newly elected officers Julianne Begay, vice president; Kim Perdue, secretary/treasurer; and Michelle Der Ohanesian, programs coordinator.

This group brings a broad range of expertise to the SWCBA: Brock is a family law attorney in Durango. Begay is an attorney for the Southern Ute Inthan Tribe Legal Department and has vast experience in tribal law. Perdue focuses on water and property law. And Der Ohanesian practices in the area of business law, real estate, and landlord-tenant law.

In the coming year, SWCBA members can look forward to enhanced technology, CLE offerings, and networking opportunities to foster an evenmore skillful and cordial bar.
