Bar News is a monthly compilation of news from the. CBA, including sections and committees, administration, and local and specialty bar associations. It also includes notices of activities—past, present, and future—from local and national law-related organizations and groups.

Colorado Lawyer Advisory Board

Colorado Lawyer thanks outgoing board members David Kirch, James Witwer, Amy DeVan, and Judge Adam Espinosa for their dedicated service to the publication. Both Kirch and Witwer served in various leadership roles, including chair, during their six years on the board, while DeVan served on the board’s 2016–17 redesign committee. Their collective wisdom has been an invaluable asset to the publication.

The board also welcomes newly appointed members Damian Arguello, Keith Olivia, Joel Pratt, and Judge Juan Villasenor, who begin their terms this month. This year's executive committee comprises Chris Levkulich, chair; Kathryn Starnella, immediate past chair; Joseph G. Michaels, vice chair; and Lindsay J. Miller, secretary.

Getting' Legal With It Podcast

The third episode of getting' Legal With It features immigration attorney Christina Brown, owner of the Law Office of Christina Brown LLC. Brown talks about her passion for humanitarian work within immigration law and how that passion led her to open her own firm specializing in removal defense, asylum, and other immigration matters—despite warnings that the practice she envisioned would not be successful.

CLI Welcomes

Sara Scott as New CEO

The Center for Legal Inclusiveness has named attorney Sara Scott as its new CEO. Scott has been a practicing attorney for over 15 years. Before attending law school, she was one of the first students to earn a bachelor’s degree in comparative studies in race and ethnicity from Stanford University. Her career highlights include time at the Washington D.C. Children’s Law Center, as well as private practice focusing on family law and, more specifically, same-sex family cases.
