Bar News is a monthly compilation of news from the. CBA, including sections and committees, administration, and local and specialty bar associations. It also includes notices of activities—past, present, and future—from local and national law-related organizations and groups.

New-Lawyer Court Orientation

A court orientation was held on November 20 to introduce new attorneys and attorneys new to the area to the nuts and bolts of practicing law in Denver and around Colorado. The orientation included presentations by local judges, practitioners, and other legal professionals who discussed such topics as key ethical considerations for practitioners, strategies for negotiation and litigation, practical legal writing tips, and common substantive issues new attorneys face.

A Downtown Haunting Tour

On November 19, the Colorado Bar Association CLE, DBAYLD, and CBA YLD sponsored a ghost walk tour led by local author and historian Phil Goodstein. The after-dark tour of downtown Denver included a trip around the Capitol.

Fall Admissions Ceremony and Reception

On November 4, hundreds of lawyers who passed the July 2019 Colorado bar exam gathered at Boettcher Concert Hall for the Colorado Supreme Court's fall swearing-in ceremony. CBA President Kathleen Hearn Croshal welcomed the new lawyers alongside Chief Justice Nathan B. Coats, who later administered the Oath of Admission. Following the ceremony, many of the new attorneys and their friends and family headed to Denver's Corner Office for a complimentary reception hosted by the CBA.

Lawsuit Days is a Big Success

On November 12 and 13, volunteers from the DBA YLD gathered on the steps of the Denver City and County Building to accept donations of gently used professional clothing, shoes, and accessories during Law Suit Days. The annual clothing drive is a partnership between the YLD and Bayaud Enterprises, which works to help people overcome barriers to employment. The organizations thank everyone who stopped by to donate items.

Ted Talk on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

On November 14, the CBA YLD kicked off a reboot of its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) conversation series. The series will span the next year and comprise TED-style talks addressing DEI topics pertinent to young...
