Bar News is a monthly compilation of news from the. CBA, including sections and committees, administration, and local and specialty bar associations. It also includes notices of activities—past, present, and future—from local and national law-related organizations and groups.
DBA YLD Roll Out the Barrels Food Drive
This summer, the DBA YLD, Metro Caring, and Denver's legal community came together for the annual Roll Out the Barrels food drive. This year, 18 firms raised $13,018 in funds and gathered 3,719 pounds of food. Judith Ackerman of Metro Caring presented the coveted soup can trophies to law firms that raised the most food and funds.
This year's winners were:

■ Husch Blackwell, firms sized 22-60
■ Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP, firms sized 61-100
■ Faegre Baker Daniels LLP, firms sized 101-150
■ Denver District Attorney's Office, firms sized 150+

CBA Advances Efforts to Improve Broadband Infrastructure in Colorado
The American Bar Association, acting through its 600-member House of Delegates, officially endorsed a Colorado-sponsored resolution in August. Resolution10b, which passed unanimously, asks Congress to immediately fund the installation of broadband infrastructure throughout rural America. This resolution is the first of its kind to be submitted.
During his term as CBA president, John Vaught made it his mission to improve broad-band infrastructure in Greater Colorado to further access to justice and improve outreach and education. The absence of such infrastructure threatens the practice of law in non-metro areas, as young lawyers are reluctant to set up a practice where high-speed Internet is not available.
The CBA will now begin efforts under President Kathleen Hearn Croshal to lobby Congress to advance funding of the project and to end county-by-county funding, which has mired the project for years.
APABA Colorado Participates in Dragon Boat Festival
