Waldo Canyon Fire Tree Planting Project

The El Paso County Bar Association and other community members volunteered on May 11 for the 7th Annual Waldo Canyon Fire Tree Planting Project, held this year at the Flying W Ranch. Volunteers planted nearly 1,500 seedlings and constructed hillside stabilization structures in an area of the ranch that had been devastated by fire. When the work was completed, volunteers were treated to a barbecue lunch with all the fixings, courtesy of Dave Prince, Karen Hartley, and Jack Donley.

Colorado Judicial Institute Elects New Chair

Peter Koclanes of Sherman & Howard L.L.C. has been elected chair of the Colorado Judicial Institute. Koclanes, who has served on the board of directors since 2012, will work alongside the executive director and oversee the 40 -member board of directors, the Emeritus Directors, and the Young Professionals Committee. He succeeds Barbara B. Randell of Future Image Group. The Colorado Judicial Institute plays a major role within the legal community by enhancing the quality of Colorado's courts and ensuring they work effectively for Colorado residents.

Boulder County Bar Association Relocates to Central Boulder

The Boulder County Bar Association has relocated to 3269 28th St. in Boulder. The spacious new facility will enable the BCBA to offer a robust lineup of on site CLE classes, provide coworking and office resources to legal professionals, and host a variety of community events. The BCBA hosted an open house on June 13 to welcome the community partners to the new space.

BCLS 2019 Pro Bono Luncheon and Awards Ceremony

Boulder County Legal Services celebrated the outstanding tradition of pro bono service in Boulder County at the Annual Pro Bono Luncheon on April 29 at the Boulder Marriott. BCLS honored local attorneys, mediators, law students, and paralegals who volunteered 4,574 hours in 2018 to provide legal services to low-income residents of Boulder County.
