Bar News is a monthly compilation of news from the. CBA, including sections and committees, administration, and local and specialty bar associations. It also includes notices of activities—past, present, and future—from local and national law-related organizations and groups.

CBA Spring Admissions Ceremony

On June 4, the CBA held its annual Spring Admissions Ceremony for newly barred Colorado attorneys. Several CBA members and staff, including the presidents of Colorado's diversity bar associations, met to welcome the state's newest legal practitioners.

Federal Pro Se Legal Clinic Grand Opening

On June 29, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and the CBA held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Federal Pro Se Legal Clinic at the Alfred A. Arraj U.S. Courthouse. The clinic will help provide legal assistance in the 35% of the court's civil cases that are pursued by pro se litigants. It is funded by a grant from the U. S. District Court to the CBA. Many prominent members of the Colorado legal community attended the clinic's grand opening, including (pictured below): John Vaught, incoming CBA president; Hon. Marcia S. Krieger, chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado; Kathleen Schoen, CBA director of Access to Justice and Local Bar Relations; Sabra Janko, project attorney for the Federal Pro Se Legal Clinic; Hon. Kristen Mix, U. S. Magistrate Judge; Dick Cast, CBA immediate past president; Connie Talmage, executive director of the Colorado Lawyers Committee; Jeffrey Colwell, clerk of court for the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado; and Patrick Flaherty, CBA executive director.

DBA Annual Golf Tournament

The Denver Bar Association held its Annual Golf Tournament on June 15 at the Wellshire Golf Course in Denver. The winners were:

Longest Putt: Jason Soronson and Amy Braddy.

Closest Winners: Natalie Klee, Roy Alexander, Greg Herring, and Scott Ray.

1st Low Gross: William Hood, Brian Boatright, Will Myer, and Steve Bell (54).

2nd Low Gross: Steve Briggs, Scott McGath, Rich Nielson, and Dan Murphy (55).

1st Low Net: Ed Timmons, Jeff Jackson, Alan Schindler, and Ed Timmons, Jr. (52).

2nd Low Net: Otto Hilbert, Tom Schleibaum, Paul Casey, and Justin Morgan...
