Local Bar Presidential Visits

On August 29, CBA President Dick Cast visited Sterling to meet with the 13th Judicial District. There, he was joined by Magistrate John Jostad, who presented on a few ethics issues, including candor with the court and the provision of unbundled legal services.

The following day, Cast traveled to Grand Junction to meet with members of the Mesa County Bar Association and to honor 50-year bar member John Groves. During Cast's visit, Phil James provided his "All the Ethics Rules in 60 Minutes" presentation over a delicious lunch at the Avalon Theater.

This latest chat, "Tips for the Certiorari Process and Effective Advocacy in the Colorado Supreme Court," was hosted by Colorado Supreme Court Justice Richard L. Gabriel. He discussed practices in Colorado's highest court, including the justices' process for determining which cases the Court will hear, and the petition for certiorari process. His talk covered effective appellate advocacy and tips for drafting petitions.
