John Vaught Selected as CBA President-Elect

The CBA Nominating Committee recently announced John Vaught of Denver as the 2017–18 president-elect. John Vaught was president of the DBA from 2014–15. During his term, he introduced the “15 by 15” membership initiative, the Bar Ambassadors program, and the iBelong marketing campaign to encourage broader participation from young lawyers. Previously, in 2011, Vaught, a Vietnam veteran, had helped establish the CBA’s Colorado Lawyers for Colorado Veterans program, which offers free legal advice to Colorado veterans, active duty service members, and their families through clinics held across the state. Vaught is delighted to be able to continue fulfilling his commitment to strengthening the legal community in a statewide capacity.

Vaught is a partner at Wheeler Trigg O ’Donnell LLP, where his practice focuses on complex insurance defense, including class actions, corporate governance issues, liability and director and officer insurance disputes, trade secrets, intellectual property, commercial, and antitrust matters. He has substantial litigation, mediation, and trial experience involving complex commercial litigation in the federal courts and in Colorado and Missouri He leads the firm’s team that oversees the defense of all automobile insurance cases in every jurisdiction in the country involving personal injury protection and medical payments coverage.

Courtroom Chats Continue

The third installment of the DBA Bench-Bar Committee’s popular “Courtroom Chats” series was held on March 9 at the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse. The third chat was hosted by Judges Adam J.
