On January 30, CLE in Colorado, Inc. announced Vince O'Brien as the organization's new executive director, replacing Gary Abrams, who announced his retirement in late 2016. Prior to joining CLE in Colorado, O'Brien was the assistant director and program attorney for Minnesota Continuing Legal Education, where he worked for 30 years. Until 2011, he also served as president of the Association of Continuing Legal Education Administrators (ACLEA) and head of its Executive Committee.

"Because of my history with ACLEA, I join CLE in Colorado with a great deal of respect for what the CBA/CLE staff and volunteer attorneys have already built. The current programs and publications offer tremendous value to all Colorado attorneys," says O'Brien "I look forward to honoring these rich traditions by working closely with all stakeholders to evolve our educational approaches and outcomes toward a path of modest and sustainable growth"

DBA Bench-Bar Committee Launches "Courtroom Chats" Series

On the morning of January 12, the DBA Bench-Bar Committee held its inaugural "Courtroom Chat" at the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse. These monthly gatherings will serve as an opportunity for attorneys to chat with a Denver judge or judges while networking with other Denver attorneys. The Hon Beth Faragher and the Hon Olympia Fay were the featured judges at the first session, entitled, "What to Expect during a Denver County Court Criminal Case." Young lawyer participants found the session particularly valuable.

The Bench-Bar Committee plans to host these events on the second Thursday of the month from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in Courtroom 4B of the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse.
