ASK MOST PEOPLE to identify a Latin American film, and chances are they will name one from Argentina, Brazil, or Mexico. Those countries will be well represented at the 2004 Latin American Film Festival in Washington, D.C.--but audiences will also be able to see films from Bolivia, Costa Rica, and first-time participant Nicaragua, to name a few.

In fact, more than fifty films front Fifteen countries in Central and South America will be screened during the event, which runs from September 23 to October 3. It is organized by the OAS, the American Film institute (AFI), and the Association of Ibero-American Cultural Attaches.

The festival, now in its seventh consecutive year, for the first time will include a two day forum at the OAS, with panel discussions on such topics as financing, distributing, and marketing films for international audiences...
