Among the new arrivals to Northeast Indiana is Indiana Bio Energy. Ethanol production at its $177 million plant in Bluffton is slated to begin in June, says Mike Row, economic development director at Bluffton-Wells County Economic Development. The plant that will employ 50 means "an infusion of several million dollars into the Wells County economy in the areas of construction supplies, contractor services, food and lodging, lumber, utilities, concrete and gravel, and transportation," he says.

A November groundbreaking marked the arrival of Alexin LLC in Bluffton, where it's building a $57 million aluminum recycling facility to manufacture aluminum billet. It will open in October and employ about 50, Row says.

Michigan-based MCM Management Corp. broke ground in Waterloo in September on a $12.5 million facility that will employ 55 by 2009.
