I agree with Cortez City Manager Hal Shepard (in Robert Schwab's "Boarding call," April) when he says that airline industry analyst Mike Boyd's advice about "tuning up the Chevy" is short sighted.

If you're talking about large jets--and the regional jets that feed large jets into and out of major airports--then Mr. Boyd is right when he says, "It ain't going to happen."

But if you go outside the box and think about small jets (30 seats or fewer) in small, relief airports...
