An updated and vastly improved radar that can track enemy rocket, artillery and mortar fire in a full 360 degree panorama recently underwent successful testing at the Army's Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona.

The prototype was designed by Syracuse Research Corp. for Lockheed Martin's enhanced AN/TPQ-36 counter-fire target acquisition radar.

It is expected to replace counter-fire radars that were developed during the Cold War, which operate only in limited 90 degree modes.
