New plant expected to create 70 jobs in Kershaw County.

A Michigan-based plastic manufacturer is spending $1.7 million to establish a plant in Camden.

Custom Profile, which manufactures and supplies plastic profile extrusions, expects the manufacturing facility on Hengst Boulevard in Camden will create 70 jobs, according to a news release from Gov. Henry McMaster's office.

The Camden facility will manufacture plastic profile extrusions for the furniture, appliance and marine industries. Custom Profile serves customers such as Whirlpool, Electrolux, GE Appliance, 3M, Steelcase, Hon/Allsteel, Haworth and Herman Miller.

Custom Profile is employee-owned and based in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The new facility is expected to be operational in January. Job applications are being accepted online.
