Tax professionals from all over New England gathered at the Sheraton Needham on May 13 for a full-day conference. Highlights of the day included presentations by ever-popular Paul Frankel of Morrison & Foerster (on state and local tax issues) and Mary (Handy) Hevener of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius on employee benefit issues. That said, every area of tax was covered during the day, including federal, state, and international updates, tax department automation, and sales and use tax developments. The handout materials for the program was excellent, and the chapter maintained its tradition of providing invaluable opportunities for networking and exceptional food. The meeting also featured exhibits by several professional service providers, enabling members to learn more about available products and services in a pressure-free environment. There was great material, networking, and food to end the year.

The luncheon speaker was Jon Wallach of Sports Radio 98.5, who is Handy Hevener's stepson and the son of former chapter president Fred Wallach (who currently works for the U.S. Tax Court). The luncheon program also featured the presentation of one of TEI's 2011 Social Responsibility Grants. Bob...
