New adventure center in Ticaboo offers exciting excursions for travelers to Garfield County.

Garfield County--TICABOO in Garfield County is offering a new adventurous excursion called the "Cass Hite Sojourn" this summer, an exciting descent into Ticaboo Canyon following in the footsteps of local legend, Cass Hite.

The new trip is one of many theme-based hikes the Ticaboo Resort, located just 15 miles from Lake Powell, will offer out of the new Adventure Center opening this summer. The center is setting up to offer many rentals, guided excursions and other adventures for thrill seekers to enjoy.

"This summer we will be embarking on a number of new excursions out of the new Adventure Center," said Ray Golden, director of the Adventure Center. "We are designing themed hikes about the history, ecology, geology and geography. The Cass Hite Sojourn is the ultimate excursion."

Cass Hite is a local legend who explored southern Utah between 1879 and 1914 and named Ticaboo after the Paiute word meaning "friendly." Hite was an explorer and a pioneer who descended Ticaboo Canyon in his search for gold and silver.
