NDIA launches defense manufacturing division.

The National Defense Industrial Association has formed a manufacturing division. Barry Bates, NDIA's vice president for operations, made the announcement at a defense-manufacturing symposium hosted in November by the association's Iowa/Illinois Chapter in Davenport, Iowa.

The division will advocate national support for defense manufacturing, boost promising technologies and processes, conduct relevant research, and sponsor government-industry forums.

The November symposium featured presentations from the Departments of Commerce and Defense, U.S. Army, Defense Contract Management Agency and leading defense manufacturers.
