Romer, the former co-director of NBER'S Program on Monetary Economics, a former member of the Business Cycle Dating Committee, and a faculty member at the University of California, Berkeley, has been confirmed as Chair of the President's Council of Economic Advisers.

Research Associate Lawrence H. Summers, a member of several NBER Programs including Public Economics and Monetary Economics and a faculty member at Harvard University, is the new director of the National Economic Council.
