Jeffrey R. Brown is a Faculty Research Fellow in the NBER's Programs on Public Economics and the Economics of Aging and an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his B.A. from Miami University (Ohio), his M.RR in Public Policy from the John E Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and his Ph.D. in economics from MIT.

Brown joined the University of Illinois finance faculty in 2001 after serving as Senior Economist at the President's Council of Economic Advisers and as an economist for the President's Commission to Strengthen Social Security. Prior to his government service, he had been an Assistant Professor of Public Policy at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
