Austan Goolsbee is an NBER Research Associate and a Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business where he has taught since 1995. He is also the lead editor of the Journal of Law and Economics and a Senior Research Fellow at the American Bar Foundation.

Goolsbee received his B.A. and M.A. in Economics from Yale University and his Ph.D. in Economics from MIT. He has been the recipient of an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Research Fellowship. He is a member of the U.S. Census Advisory Commission and previously served as a special consultant to the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division and on the staff of former Senator David Boren.
