Museums for America (IMLS)
Scope: The Institute for Museum and Library Services
seeks applications for the FY2021 Museums for America
announcement to support projects that strengthen the
ability of an individual museum to serve its public.
Deadline: Nov. 16, 2020.
Funds: $19.9 million total for up to 120 awards ranging
from $5,000 to $250,000.
Eligibility: A unit of state, local or Native American tribal
government or a private, nonprot organization that has
tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code and
is located in one of the 50 states of the United States of
America, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth
of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American
Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana

Services (IMLS)
Scope: The Institute for Museum and Library Services
seeks applications for the FY2021 Native American/
Native Hawaiian Museum Services announcement to
support Indian tribes and organizations that primarily
serve and represent Native Hawaiians in sustaining
heritage, culture and knowledge through exhibitions,
educational services and programming, professional
development and collections stewardship.
Deadline: Nov. 16, 2020.
Funds: $1.77 million for up to 20 awards ranging from
$5,000 to $100,000.
Eligibility: A Native American tribe or an organization
that primarily serves and represents Native Hawaiians.
Areas: IMLS said funding will support projects including
but not limited to: developing museum resources that
foster various types of literacies; creating and delivering
interpretive public programs; developing, designing and
fabricating exhibitions (nonconstruction); developing,
designing and delivering digital learning resources;
providing programs designed for audiences of various
backgrounds, circumstances and abilities; providing
professional development/training for formal and informal
educators; and creating partnerships with schools and
developing museum resources and programs in support
of K–12 school curricula, among many others.
