Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Idea
Development Award (DOD)
Scope: The Defense Department’s U.S. Army Medical
Research Acquisition Activity seeks applications
for the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), Idea
Development Award announcement to support the
development of innovative, high-risk/high-reward
research that could lead to critical discoveries or major
advancements that will accelerate progress in improving
outcomes for individuals with DMD.
Deadline: Pre-applications, Aug. 12, 2020; proposals,
Dec. 7, 2020.
Funds: Approximately $4.48 million for approximately
eight Idea Development Award applications.
Eligibility: Unrestricted.
Areas: DOD said studies proposed under this award may
include: delivery to skeletal muscle and heart (e.g., ligand
assisted, nanoparticles, identication of biological barriers
to delivery and alternative vectors) immunosuppression,
vector modication and other strategies to facilitate repeat
administration of biologic therapies; targeting muscle
stem cells; and cell-based therapies, including but not
limited to: selection of novel cell types, expansion, cell
delivery and homing, differentiation and integration.

Scope: The Justice Department’s Office on Violence
Against Women seeks applications for the FY2020
National Tribal Clearinghouse on Sexual Assault
Solicitation announcement to provide training and technical
assistance designed to improve victim services for and
criminal and civil justice response to American Indian and
Alaskan Native (AI/AN) sexual assault victims as well as
increase offender accountability for such crimes.
Deadline: July 23, 2020.
Funds: $500,000 total for up to two awards ranging from
$250,000 to $500,000.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities, nonprot
organizations and Native American tribal organizations.
Areas: DOJ said funding may be used to establish,
sustain and/or expand training, educational programs
and technical assistance on issues relating to sexual
assault of AI/AN women. Funding priority will be given
to applicants proposing innovative ways of reaching
a national audience of entities addressing the sexual
assault of AI/AN women, including tribal and nontribal
organizations within urban areas.

Sta trauma and organizational stress
in community supervision agencies (DOJ)
Scope: The Justice Department’s National Institute of
Corrections seeks applications for the Responding to
Staff Trauma and Organizational Stress in Community
Supervision Agencies announcement to develop a reliable
list of effective approaches to staff and organizational stress
and trauma in community corrections supervision agencies.
Deadline: July 28, 2020.
Funds: $75,000 for one award for a one-year project period.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities, for-prot
organizations, nonprot organizations and Native
American tribal organizations.
Areas: DOJ said successful applicants will work at
accessing and reviewing available and emerging
research and information on the subject of vicarious
trauma, secondary trauma, compassion fatigue and
job-related stress in the eld of community supervision
and related disciplines to provide the background for
determining the current understanding of this issue and
provide the foundation for interviews, focus groups,
surveys, polling and other information-gathering
activities. Through these activities, it is assumed that
successful strategies currently utilized by community
supervision agencies will emerge and will be the
foundation for recommendations regarding effective
approaches that could be replicated in other agencies.
