National transportation broker to move in Greenville's Borden building.

A national transportation broker will occupy a portion of the Borden building.

The Furman Co. (Furman Development) said in a news release Allen Lund Co. will lease approximately 5,600 square feet of office space at 711 W. Washington St. in Greenville. The Greenville location will join the company's 37 offices across the United States.

The Borden building which was purchased in 2019 is currently in redevelopment, with approximately 42,000 square feet. The Furman Co.'s intent to preserve the historic buildings that were once home to the Borden ice cream factory. The original Borden building structure dates to 1923. The developer wanted to keep "Borden" as the name of the modern urban office park because of its history and to embrace what the site already has to offer.

Stephen Navarro, president and CEO of The Furman Co., said in the news release, "Bringing a tenant of Allen Lund's caliber to the Borden building brings our vision of the redevelopment to life. The goal of this development is to breathe new life into an iconic historic building, while rediscovering its vibrancy."
