AICPA, NASBA, Prometric successfully pilot computer-based exam.

A pilot version of the computer-based Uniform CPA Examination was successfully completed recently. The pilot confirmed that the examination launches and performs properly in a live test center, and that all data flow correctly among NASBA, the AICPA and Prometric. The pilot project included volunteer CPA candidates who had taken the final paper-based exam in Nov. 2003.

Overall, pilot participants agreed that converting the CPA Examination from paper and pencil to computer-based format is a positive change. They also concluded there are various benefits associated with a computer-based version that are not offered in a paper and pencil format, including:

* Opportunity to take the exam during eight months out of the year instead of only two times a year. (Candidates also will have the option of taking the four exam sections individually.)
