Nara announces reorganization.

In March, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) announced a reorganization that will create a chief records officer position and an office of open government.

The reorganization, announced by U.S. Archivist David Ferriero, stems from recommendations made by an internal study conducted in late 2010.

The study recommended that the chief records officer direct efforts to improve federal agency electronic records management and report to an "executive for agency services" who would report to a newly created chief operating officer (COO) position, supervised by the archivist and deputy archivist.
