Nader was right.

In "The Meaning of Obama's Victory" (Comment, December issue, by Matthew Rothschild), the fact that you spend three paragraphs on Ralph Nader and Cynthia McKinney reveals that you have a deep, nagging doubt of your own.

You said: "Many progressives went to the polls with their eyes wide open. They recognized Obama's limitations, but understood that his progressive rhetoric and the mobilization behind his candidacy could open a lot of space for much-needed change." Note the word "could."

You also said, "They recognized the value of symbolic change." In other words, they held their noses and voted for the lesser of two evils.

As Obama's show of appreciation for progressives, he gave us Rick Warren at the Inauguration.

Please refer me to the Nader quote where he calls those not voting for him "fools" or "sellouts." I have never heard him do anything but educate, educate, educate...
