Nader's double standard.

In "The Naked Empire" (Comment, November issue), you allude to Ralph Nader and his main argument that on issues of militarism and war, there is little to choose between Democrats and Republicans. Yet in the November 1 St. Louis Post-Dispatch, "Carnahan, Talent enlist help of their Parties' Heavyweights," Nader asked Missouri residents to vote for Carnahan even though his party had a candidate in the race. He said he was concerned that Democrats could lose the Senate if Carnahan was defeated. You were right to call Gephardt "pusillanimous," but nothing is more pusillanimous than this. Lesser of two evils, indeed. Apparently, that only applies to the Presidential race.
