THE MDA ART COLLECTION is celebrating its 15th anniversary with a "Transcending Barriers" exhibition that can be seen at the Children's Museum of Houston through July 29. The Collection features the work of young and adult artists across the country who challenge the obstacles imposed by neuromuscular diseases.

Dedicated and talented youngsters produced all of the selections featured in the Houston exhibition, which include traditional acrylics and watercolors, pen and ink, pastels, crayon art, ceramics, bronzes, and photography. Subject matter ranges from self-portraits to landscapes and from still lifes to outer space. The exhibit is highlighted by a handful of native sons, as the creations of five homegrown Texans are on view.

"It's a great honor to have a portion of our MDA Art Collection on display.... We're inspired by the talented children who have contributed to the Collection and delighted to share their remarkable works," says MDA President and CEO Gerald C. Weinberg.
