President Biden is expected to act fast to pump the brakes on last-minute Trump administration regulations affecting HR.

Typically, outgoing administrations push through new regulations at the very end of their terms. However, incoming presidents have the power to undo some of these "midnight regulations." Among the new rules that Biden is expected to freeze on Jan. 20 or soon after:

EMPLOYEE/CONTRACTOR CLASSIFICATION: A new Department of Labor rule, issued Jan. 6, would make it easier to classify workers as independent contractors instead of employees. It would use an "economic realities" test to decide contractor status, based on who controls the work. Expect Biden to rewrite a more worker-friendly definition.
