In 2011, ARMA International will continue to advance the Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles[R] (GARP[R]), and Information Management magazine (IM) will be helping every step of the way.

In each issue we will include an article on specific GARP[R] principles that will highlight how adhering to those principles could have benefited an organization that has been "in the news" for poor information management practices. We will also be looking for opportunities to educate readers on GARP[R]-related resources, such as the Information Governance Maturity Model, as they become available.

IM will also be publishing a series of articles on records and information management (RIM) fundamentals, which we believe will benefit novice and expert alike. For RIM professionals, they will be good refreshers and useful training aids, and individuals just entering the profession will be able to use them to build the foundation that will help them move forward in their careers.

2011 will ring in new standards, guidelines, and best practices. ARMA International will be at the forefront of this endeavor to ensure RIM professionals have the tools they need to manage their organization's records program in the most efficient and effective manner.

In this issue of IM, Amy Dove provides information on "Drafting a 'Dream Team' to Prevent E-Discovery Nightmares." The explosion of electronic information has forced IT, RIM, and legal units to work more closely to gain control of an organization's information. RIM professionals will learn how to interface with these departments, which will ensure the implementation and management of a solid, documented, and explainable RIM program.
