A recent Zogby American Values poll of 1,005 likely voters discovered that most Republicans (84 percent) and Independents (74 percent), as well as a majority of Democrats (57 percent), feel the estate tax is unfair to heirs and should be eliminated.

Seventy-one percent of likely voters say the estate tax is unfair and should be eliminated, while 19 percent say that large estates left to heirs should be taxed at a rate of 50 percent for anything over $1.2 million.
