There is an error on the "Statestats" page in the June issue. It lists South Dakota as requiring 170 days of school in a school year. In actuality, our law (SDCL 13-26-1) states that schools must conduct school for a minimum of 962.5 hours, which is the equivalent of 175 days that are 5.5 hours in length.

Several years ago the legislature voted to convert our 175-day requirement to an equivalent number of hours to accommodate school...
