Montclair State University receives $2.5M in federal grants.

Montclair State University received nearly $2.5 million in federal grants from NASA and the U.S. Department of Education to bolster its efforts to serve underrepresented minority students.

New Jersey Secretary of Higher Education Zakiya Smith Ellis announced a five-year, $2.2 million Title III Department of Education grant to help institutions serve low-income and minority students. The funding will create changes to Montclair State's student support system and make a path to a degree more efficient.

"I cannot gush enough when I see what's happening here. When I look across the room, this is the embodiment of what is happening in post-secondary education," Smith Ellisat Montclair University on Nov. 6.
