Many entrepreneurs are not in business just for the money. They are also motivated by the security and autonomy they can provide for themselves and their families, according to Donald F. Kuratko, Jeff Hornsby, and Douglas Naffziger, management professors at Ball State University, Muncie, Ind.

"While traditional financial success seems to be part of it, success should not be simply measured in financial terms," indicates Kuratko, director of the Entrepreneurship Program. "[Our] study supports the belief that many entrepreneurs are motivated by and sustained through other means than simply money."
