Congratulations to The Progressive for adding the talented Jim Hightower to its pages ("The Price of Cheap Goods," March issue). Molly Ivins would be pleased.

While her voice was unique and irreplaceable, she shared many of the qualities that Hightower embodies--humor, compassion, empathy, righteous anger directed at injustice, and depth.

The Lone Star state has produced two great champions of progressive thought--Molly Ivins and Jim Hightower.

One has fallen, and one carries on.

How fitting it is that The Progressive offers up its final page, Molly's page, to the one person on Earth most closely attuned to her vision--Jim Hightower!
