MN Cup names 2019 winners.

From an Uber for campers to wheelchairs for the arm, Monday night was all about brand new ideas.

Minnesota's MN Cup entrepreneurial competition, a project of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, honored its 2019 winners Monday during Twin Cities Startup Week. The competition, in its 15th year, provides successive rounds of mentoring and judging to applicant startup companies, and cash prizes to the winners, as they move through the monthslong process.

Taking home the grand prize was Abilitech Medical, a startup that designs mobility-enhancing devices for people with upper-limb muscular or neurological weakness. The company also is a finalist in the medtech category at the Tekne Awards, a program of the Minnesota High Tech Association.

In addition to the grand prize, MN Cup recognizes multiple division and special category award winners. Phenomix Sciences, which has developed blood tests to help doctors treat patients with obesity, was named the 2019 innovative minority-led business in a category sponsored and judged by the Metropolitan Economic Development Association and JPMorgan Chase.
