Missing Molly.

I feel for us all for losing Molly Ivins's voice. Not a week goes by when some overwhelmingly outrageous or ridiculous Administration action leaves me speculating about what she would have had to say.

And I feel, in particular, for you at The Progressive , not only because you've lost her contributions, obviously, but also because you are now required to determine what to do with her monthly "real estate"--the last word in each issue. It is my pattern to read those few magazines to which I bother to subscribe cover-to-cover, with the slight exception that I will often save my favorite contributor to read last. For years in your magazine, my two patterns converged--Molly was the best, and Molly was last.

I know this can't help but be a painful and no-win situation for you. But please, don't make Will Durst your final contributor in each issue. If I am not mistaken, his column has ended the issue twice in recent months.
