The third meeting of ministers and High Authorities of Science and Technology of the Americas was held November 17-18, 2011, with the support of the OAS. The meeting highlighted the use of science, technology, and innovation as ways of improving competitiveness and achieving prosperity for countries in the region.

Under the theme, "Applied Science, Technology, and Innovation: Knowledge for Competitiveness and Prosperity," the meeting was an opportunity to promote the advance of science and technology in the region, by determining a series of objectives to be met by the year 2025.
