More people of all ages in the U.S. are rolling out their yoga mats in an effort to improve their health. A survey by the National institute of Health, Bethesda, Md., shows that the number of Americans using mind-and-body approaches to improve health and well-being remains high. Of note is a significant increase in the use of yoga since 2002. In addition, almost as many Americans practice meditation or receive chiropractic or osteopathic manipulation.

Survey highlights include:

* Approximately 21,000,000 adults (nearly double the number from 2002) and 1,700,000 children practice yoga.

* Nearly 20,000,000 adults and 1,900,000 children engage in chiropractic or osteopathic manipulation.

* Almost 18,000,000 adults and 927,000 children practice meditation.

* Children whose parents use a complementary health approach are more likely to use one as well.
