The challenge in shrinking the site of flatscreen digital displays for rugged military electronics is to keep the images sharp and easy to read.

Astra Products Inc., of Baldwin, N.Y., has developed filter materials--cast in lightweight acrylic--that provide miniature displays with high contrast, accurate color transmission and a uniform image, said a spokesman.
