The aggressive direct action of Iowa farmers against foreclosure of their farms, following the Farmers National Relief Conference in Washington, has won a temporary reprieve on mortgages totaling between $200 and $400 million.

Companies holding at least half of the $400 million of Iowa mortgages held by insurance companies have publicly announced that they will stop foreclosures until the legislature has had time to act on a program of relief laws.

Farmers have organized all through the nation to prevent foreclosure sales. No one has been hurt but possible bidders have seen the point of the farmers' arguments and refrained from taking...
