Mild-mannered tenacity and a voice for corporate women: Sherry Law: ACG member of the year.

Sherry Law has been named ACG-Denver Member of the Year, not saint of the year or even superstar of the year. But sometimes it's hard for her fellow members to remember that.

That's because they are not just fellow ACG members but fans.

Law nominally is president of Denver-based Evergreen Communication, but she's always there to step up and offer assistance on a volunteer basis, says Bill Heringer of Denver-based Workplace Elements, and 2007-2008 ACG-Denver president.

"We tease her sometimes that she really does have a real job, but she does put a lot of hours into ACG," he says.

Plus, "she's a connector, just a natural individual who is concerned and cognizant of issues, leadership issues, issues of growth. She's just a natural genuine human being who enjoys this atmosphere of connecting people who have questions on how to grow businesses."

This spigot of praise for Law can be difficult to shut off once it begins flowing.

"She is a remarkably kind and thoughtful person and everyone would agree mild-mannered," says Chris, Pelley, founder and managing director of Denver-based Capital Investment Management Co. and former ACG-Denver Member of the Year.

"She's always more than willing to help, more so than most, and she is always cheerful about it: Never is heard a discouraging word with Sherry out there working all day. Literally everyone in ACG holds her in high regard and yet views her as a very friendly person who is conscientious and thoughtful."

Plus, "she knows lots of people in town," he says.

Oh, but Pelley is only getting warmed up.

"There's a certain gentle tenacity about her," he adds. "She is smart, but she doesn't beat you up with it. If a decision is made, and it's the right thing to do she abides...
