Middle Way Cafe is located at 1200 W. Northern Lights Boulevard, Suite G in Anchorage at the Northern Lights Shopping Center, which also includes REI, TitleWave Books, Grassroots, and The Alaska Club.

The cafe, bakery, and coffee house was established in 1994. According to Middle Way's website, "Our mission has and will always be to contribute to a healthy, balanced, and sustainable life through good food and drink." To pursue that mission, Middle Way uses as many organic and locally sourced products as available and offers a range of gluten-free and vegan or vegetarian options. One of their vegan options is the Vegan Avacado Melt, served on fresh whole wheat sourdough or on walnut multi-grain bread, which features avocado, roma tomato, red onion, gomasio (a dry condiment made from sesame seeds), vegan mayo, and vegan mozzarella.
