Align Technology, Inc., makers of Invisalign clear braces, appointed Kevin J. Dallas, corporate vice president of artificial intelligence and intelligent cloud business development at Microsoft Corp., to its board.
In his current role, he and his team are forming strategic partnerships with an eye on "digital transformation" of Microsoft's customers and partners across a range of industries including: connected/autonomous vehicles, industrial internet of things, robotics, retail, smart cities, financial services, media and entertainment, and health.
A recent collaboration example includes Microsoft teaming up with its Chinese search-giant rival Baidu in an effort to power and promote self-driving cars.
"By applying our global cloud AI, machine learning, and deep neural network capabilities to that data, we can accelerate the work already being done to make autonomous vehicles safer," Dallas said when the partnership was announced last July.
