One of the simplest concepts to put into words is also simultaneously one of the most uncomfortable to accept: There are things that are out of our control. However, those things that are out of our control do not define who we are; how we react to them does.

This issue, once again, brings thoughtful and meaningful discussions. In late March 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, alcohol sales in the United States increased by 55%, as Shannon Wolfrum explains. Substance abuse impacts people of all genders, ages, ethnic backgrounds, levels of education, socio-economic situation and in all geographic locations.
