In this issue, Dr. CarolAnn Peterson provides a detailed historical approach to the changes and advancements of the law relating to battered persons and self-defense. In her step-by-step analysis, she provides the roadmap leading up to recent California case law that recognized self-defense in domestic violence restraining order matters.

As the new year commences, several new laws became effective. One important change in the Family Code, discussed by Alleen Markarian, is the amendment to Family Code section 1615 as it relates to drafting premarital agreements.
